Notes from Pretty Cool Things:
Artist has created a series of public art projects in Los Angeles, in which he places digitally printed adhesive vinyl on urban eyesores, such as electrical boxes. The graphics depict the scene that’s hidden behind the object, effectively “cloaking†the subject. The vinyl is permanently affixed and coated with a special chemical to prevent the occurrence of another urban eyesore, graffiti.

Done many many times before by ad agencies. Won several awards. please… this is not new at all.
The joke is that this is called “art” and the person/company is called “artist.” I mean, it’s a neat idea, but they just took a picture from the otherside of thebox, printed it, and glued it on. No big deal, no talent or skill, or even a good eye to catch good pictures. It’s just cut and paste, boring… I’d rather see graffiti.
Art is “the process or product of deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions.” People are reacting to these artistic objects on the street.
Andy Warhol is a good example, he took photocopies, yet his work is considered art and he is an artist. What is the difference here?
I wonder how often people bump into them?
