Illuminated Canvas

This is a simple, yet cool idea created by Kate at DesignSpongeOnline. She states: “this month i will feature projects using canvas, and to kick it off i decided to use a lightweight canvas fabric to create an unusual ‘night light’ painting that could look good on or off. we needed a light in our hallway because i get up early in the morning when it is dark out. i thought i could use this as an opportunity to make a conversation piece that people see when they first enter our house.”
You can learn how to make one here. Hopefully the lightbulb won’t burn the canvas… one hopes!

I made something like this for my bedroom. It is a large (2mx1.5m) digital print on a wooden frame of a branch of a tree. I stuck fairy lights all over the back and hung it over our bed.
By day, it looks like a nice pic of a branch and at night it looks like there are fairies floating in the mist behind the branch. It replaces our bedside lights.

Awesome!
I have a suggestion:
To fully black out the canvas, try using sign painters paint such as Oneshot lettering paint. one to two coats will completely black it out and won’t leave streaky-ness when the box is illuminated. I’ve made some lightboxes in the past and Oneshot works great. Thanks for showing this!
Thanks for the suggestions.
