The Enigmatic See-Through Billboard
Lead Pencil Studio has created a unique sculpture entitled “Non-Sign II,” which was commissioned by the U.S. government and displayed between the US and Canadian border (driving from Vancouver BC into the United States at Peace Arch crossing). It is a transparent billboard with tangled steel rods, something that clearly contrasts from other advertising signs in the area. The purpose of this project is to raise a “little bit of awareness to the whole signage landscape in the border zone.”

Notes from Daniel Mihalyo of Lead Pencil Studio:
Borrowing the effectiveness of billboards to redirect attention away from the landscape… this permanently open aperture between nations works to frame nothing more than a clear view of the changing atmospheric conditions beyond.
