Architect Emmanuelle Moureaux has designed a unique and colorful building for Sugamo Shinkin Bank in Shimura, Japan.
Notes about this project (by Lydia Parafianowicz, from Frame):
It comes as no surprise that the inspirations for a colourful bank in Japan were elements from above: a sky’s clouds, rainbows, light and wind.
Panels in 12 shades comprise the building’s exterior walls, stacked in slabs with contrasting white panels.
‘I imagined a lot of layers piled up to the sky,’ explains architect Emmanuelle Moureaux. ‘The top layers are shades of blue to flow together with the sky.’
