KLM airlines has launched a new “‘Economy Comfort’ zone in response to customer demands for greater comfort and more choice in Economy Class on intercontinental flights.” [1] To publicize their new spaces on board (i.e. up to ten centimeters more legroom and back supports that can recline twice as far), they put a man sitting on what looks to be an invisible chair at the Manchester Airport. Clever!

“With mirror anamorphosis, a conical or cylindrical mirror is placed on the drawing or painting to transform a flat distorted image into a three dimensional picture that can be viewed from many angles. The deformed image is painted on a plane surface surrounding the mirror. By looking uniquely into the mirror, the image appears undeformed,” notes from Wikipedia. “By transforming printing processes into handmade cross-stitch embroidery my work is influenced by craft, but still retains the context of graphic design,” states designer Evelin Kasiko. Japanese stylist Mita Shiniti has made sculptures using Nike Dunks (yes, the sneakers!). Her work is part of a collection entitled “Tenki,” a solo exhibition that will be on display from now till May 12th, 2010 at the GALLERY SPEAK FOR in Tokyo.
