		<description>They appear to be based on Z-depth maps of 3D CG models.  These are greyscale images in which lighter colors represent parts of objects closer to the camera and darker colors are further away; generally useful for compositing multiple 3D elements.  But they do have a beauty all their own too!</description>

What makes it unique is that it is painted and not just generated by computer which would be a lot less work. The artist took the time to make it appear digital, although using traditional technique such as paint.

		<description>While these paintings might have been painted by hand with gouache, it&#039;s pretty clear that the images were first modeled in 3D software, rendered with some sort of diffused lighting effect, and used as reference for these paintings. It&#039;s just not humanly possible to create something like this without reference!</description>
