Cláudio MendonçaWow! This guy really dominates the techniques for oil painting. It’s almost unbelievable that it is not a photo. But in my opinion, the beauty of an oil painting is to actually see that it is an painting. This type of hyper-realistic technique is awesome to paint some fantastic themed scenes, that would not be able to be just photographed. For those kind of images, a photo would end up on the same result with a much easier and faster method. Afterall, that was the first reason they invented the camera, right? I don’t question Brendan’s ability for painting he simply rules.

ShillingAhem. If you read Brenan Lot’s website you will find that he did not paint these himself:
“Out of tens of thousands of snapshots I look at, I select just a few and email them to professional painters living in China. They reproduce the image in oils and send the painting back to me. This process leaves me free to stay above the fray and focus strictly on editing the world as I see it”

There are well documented techniques for accurately transcribing photos into pencil or paint. All it takes is lots and lots of time and a complete lack of imagination.
