Is it Painting or Photography?
I was trying to figure out if these were paintings or photographs. I found out that they’re a bit of both. Artist Teun Hocks started to paint on photos in 1973. Oil on toned gelatin silver-print. It really makes the artwork look super sharp and detailed like a photo, yet with painting over it, it softens the image like something out of a surrealist dream. Wonderful technique!
