Ribbon Staircase

A beautiful ribbon staircase by HSH architects.
Notes about the design from creators:
The concept of a delicate rippling ribbon was chosen in view of the exposed position of the staircase in the main living area of the house. The staircase is constructed from 10mm thick sheet metal. Pairs of adjoining steps connected with an oblique external side joist form a bracket anchored in the wall. Each of the brackets is constructed as a rigid frame. The higher steps bear mainly drawing forces, while pressure is transmitted through the lower steps.

The only issue Id have with this is that every time your feet are not in the right alignment it would force you to readjust just because. Otherwise an interesting development, almost like an optical illusion at some angles. Not really keen on the engineering needs but kudos for making it work.
This a very appealing set of staircase. It is great to look at but I’m not sure if this design offers optimal usage of what a set of staircase is made to do. To walk up or down the stairs safely, you would have to take left to right or right to left steps. Hope the owner of this staircase doesn’t get dizzy half way and fall off especially since one side is left open without any hand rail.
Can’t skip steps.
Modern day Scarpa adaptation.
This is aesthetically pleasing, but I have concerns regarding safety and overall usability.
Come on guys, think about it, those stairs would totally work (i.e. you wouldn’t have to realign your feet) if you just walked up them, close to the center…..
